Loss and Separation Anxiety

Researchers report symptoms in divorced parents similar to bereavement; both parents experience feeling of loss, previously unrecognised dependency needs, guilt, anxiety and depression The pervasive sensation of the non-custodial parent is that of the loss of their child (Hetherington, Cox, & Cox 1978; Kruk 1992; McMurray 1992; Jordan 1996)
